Centers
 


Literacy Centers are a vital component of the kindergarten classroom.  We have literacy centers daily.  They children work in centers independently on skills that have been taught during whole group instruction.  The children love center time!

Art center combines literacy and art.  They love making creations in this fun center. 

 

Big Book Center promotes retelling strategies, sight word recognition, fluency, and other reading strategies. 

Computer Center is a center where the children’s learning is enhanced with technology.  They access websites and software that is literacy and math based.  I always hear, “I want to go to computer center today!” 

Poetry Center is a fun center where the children build a familiar poem.  This center improves fluency, one to one correspondence, and phonological awareness.

 

Reading center is a quiet center where the children get cozy and read, read, read!!!!

The Listening Center exposes the children to a wide variety of genres, models fluent reading, and builds vocabulary. 

Games Center is a center that promotes oral language skills, math skills, and fine motor skills.
